Our Irish bar is the heart and soul of our establishment.

The bar area includes a range of bar and private seating areas, along of course with our now famous “snug”, ideal for couples looking for a quiet place to enjoy a drink and a chat.

We are happy to serve food anywhere in the bar area, but we also offer a good range of side dishes such as fries, onion rings and cheese platters, for those of you just looking to have a pint and a bite.

Our bar area offers a relaxed and welcoming environment to eat, drink or party in, with dedicated alcoves situated across from the bar itself, perfect for small family sized groups of four or less.

For those looking to host bigger evenings, you’ll find we have several larger tables, around which, groups of up to ten people can be seated together. If you think you’ll need this or additional space, then do please call us or make a reservation before hand.

Terrace:

One of the defining features of Foley's is our recently renovated, outdoor terrace. Capable of holding up to 120 people, the terrace is situated just at the back of the main building, and is fully furnished with tables, umbrellas (ideal for protecting against both sun and rain) and chairs.

Food, beer and sunshine, what more can you want?

The centrepiece of the terrace is the huge mural painting which adorns the back wall. Painted by a local artist in 2015, it gives the whole area a wonder land quality, a style which is further bolstered by the old style lights and other little decorative touches which you’ll find dotted around.

Being placed behind the main building, the terrace proves popular with afternoon workers, who can take advantage of the quieter atmosphere and relaxed mood, to work, read or study, whilst enjoying a drink and a bite to eat.

In the late afternoon, the terrace proves the ideal place for friends and families to dine together, and during the warm summer evenings, there really is no finer place to be.

Restaurant:

Our award winning restaurant has been serving the best in Irish and Belgian cuisine for over 20 years now, and we just keep going from strength to strength.

Whilst we are happy to serve food to any table you’re seated at, we presently have three main dining areas.

The first is located at the front of the restaurant, to the left as you walk in. This is now our primary dining area and provides a more traditional dining environment, particularly suitable for smaller groups and families. For families with small children, we are happy to be able to provide child stools.

The second area is located at the back of the restaurant, where we have carved out a truly cosy place to dine. With the fireplace and warm lighting, this area is particularly well suited for couples enjoying an evening together.

The third area is located upstairs, where in the mornings it’s used as our breakfast lounge. After this time (10:00am) this area can be reserved for those looking to hold a private function of between 20 and 30 guests.

Most evenings it’s reserved for diners and midway up the stairs, we have a large # person table, which is ideal for medium sized groups who wish to dine with us.

Oscar Wilde Room:

Launched in the summer of 2012, Patrick Foley proudly presents The Oscar Wilde Salon. Drawing on over a decade's worth of experience in hosting and catering for all variety of party events, we have tailored the Oscar Wilde Salon to be Gent's premiere choice for anyone looking to host a great party event of thirty people or more.

Named after the 19th century playwright, whose flamboyant style and razor wit lead him to write such classics as Dorian Grey and The Importance Of Being Earnest, The Oscar Wilde Salon has been designed to capture the unique flavour of the man's enduring influence on modern art and culture.

The room itself is a fully furnished party hall, outfitted with seating for up to 80 people, which includes a bar area and place to add a TV and sound system if required.

During busier times, particularly the Friday and Saturday evenings, the room is used as an overspill for the restaurant.

Accessibility:

Foley’s is equipped with all the accessibility options you would expect to find in a modern bar or restaurant setting.

We welcome any disabled people who wish to visit us and have ensured that as much of our building is accessible via wheelchair or to those with mobility challenges. Our bar and restaurant area is accessible by wheelchair and we have specific toilet facilities to accommodate anyone who may need them. These facilities also double as a mother and baby changing area.

Guide dogs are welcome for those who require them, but any other dogs are at the discretion of the staff and you will be limited to the bar area whilst they are on the premises with you.

Unfortunately we have no private parking facilities at this time, but parking is frequently available across the street.

Hotel Onderbergen:

If you’re visiting Gent, then why not extend your evening and arrange a stay with our sister business, Hotel Onderbergen.

Hotel Onderbergen offers a range of single and double rooms, each providing exactly the sort of soothing comfort you would expect from a first class hotel.

Situated behind Foleys on a quiet back street, you can be assured that with our en suite rooms and a breakfast prepared by Foleys, that after a night with us, you’ll be relaxed, rested and refuelled, and ready to take on the day ahead.
